Unusual Discovery...

Things at the Francis household are gradually resuming somewhat of a normal routine. I always forget how disrupting a move is until we actually do it....again (I think this was our 10th move!) For the most part our belongings have all found their rightful homes, with the exception of the occasional stray box in the hall that I pretend to not see when I walk by. The neighborhood has been good for our family, a park down the street and a huge tree around the corner perfect for climbing.
This morning the kids and I headed out for a walk and Savannah made a most unusual discovery when we came home. "Mom! Mom! There's a bat on our porch!!!" she exclaimed with glee. For Savannah the only thing better than finding a bat on our porch would have been if I had given in to her request to bring it inside and raise it as our own. If you know me at all....you're laughing right now because I would rather have 3 back to back root canals without Novocain than raise a wild bat.
"Mom, please can we just give it some fruit?"
"No."
"Can I just touch it once?"
"No."
"Can I get a ladder and take a really close picture?"
"No."
"Why?!"
"Because it's illegal, because they give me the creeps and because with my luck it will wake up, fly in the house through the open front door and flap wildly around until we have to call animal control, who will only tell me that they can't do anything because the darn little suckers are protected."
Donning her best pouty face she sulks back inside, but watches intently from the window.

I think I'll put off going out to get the mail until tomorrow.

Savannah's bat...sleeping, for the moment.

A LONG Overdue Update...

It is hard to believe that is has been almost a month since we left the South for Southern California. It really has been a struggle trying to adjust to the 80 degree weather, no humidity or mosquitoes, a misty ocean breeze blowing in our faces. However, we'll manage somehow. (sniffle, sniffle).

Ha! In all honesty, we do miss our Nashville home. Especially all of our dear, dear friends (love ya'll!) We have been settling into our new place which is in a great little neighborhood close to family. I think we only have a couple more boxes to unpack which is a major milestone considering how many we actually moved. The kiddos are getting adjusted and we have been able to reconnect with some old friends. Although, Daniel thinks that we are staying in a hotel and keeps asking "When are we going home? I miss my friends."

As promised, I am finally posting pictures from our move up through the present. There aren't many of us in CA. because our camera has decided its on summer vacation. New pictures via a new camera coming soon. For now, enjoy =)

Love, the Francis 5
